Rising folk-pop prodigy, and previous interviewee of Issue Reset, Euan Blackman returns with his second track of the year, ‘Busy Doing Nothing’.

The track is the second single from his forthcoming debut EP ‘You Are the Rain’, following ‘Everybody Lets You Down’ which was featured in New Music Friday UK on Spotify.

Euan wrote, recorded, produced and mixed ‘Busy Doing Nothing’ entirely in his Liverpool bedroom studio. The track is one of Euan’s catchiest, citing alt pop heroes Holly Humberstone and The 1975 as inspiration. The song was mastered by Jim Spencer (Johnny Marr, New Order, The Charlatans) at Eve studios. Talking about the newest released Euan states, “Busy Doing Nothing is about a friends struggle with alcohol, lyrically it’s pretty dark compared to the rest of my catalogue, but musically it's one of the poppiest. I like contrasting ideas like that to make more interesting productions.”

Euan Blackman continues to craft an introspective and evergreen discography of songs for rainy road trips with wistful gazes, the scene created in your head when listening to his music.

There is something of the past in his music, not retrospect, but memories we all share, tales of the human condition in soft focus. He is regularly enchanted and inspired by the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Claude Debussy. These influences that span ages and continents, come together behind his pastel blue bedroom door. Euan Blackman’s music is just starting out, but it feels like you’ve known him for some time. The comforting feeling radiating off his work allows for a gentle listen, however if you listen carefully the lyrics may lead you to being deceived.

As an independent artist, Euan has built a loyal audience of fans on TikTok where he has over 21k followers and over 1 million likes! His music has been praised by some of his heroes including acclaimed folk artist Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Radio 1’s Jack Saunders saying “I really love this” and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda.

Euan’s music has been featured in Spotify’s New Music Friday UK and has been supported by Radio X, BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio. His single HIGHHIGHHIGH reached over 50,000 streams independently and was pressed to vinyl for Flying Vinyl. You can also read our previous review on Euan’s single ‘I’m Not Scared’ here.

As a live act Euan has performed at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Cavern Club and a BBC Introducing live session. He has also performed at festivals including Moseley Folk Festival, Lakefest, El Dorado and Black Deer Festival.

If all of that isn’t enough to open Spotify now and stream Euan Blackman’s introspective and evergreen discography on repeat, we don’t know what will!
