We know its hard to have motivation in lockdown, not wanting to get all dressed up. As a result, not getting those great shots you want for the gram has led to the rise of so-called casual Instagram, stripping us back and showing the reality of our lives. No heavily edited and filtered images.
This new trend goes hand in hand with posting photo-dumps which as you can guess by the name is just you dumping loads of photos from your camera roll on to your feed; even Kylie Jenner has partaken in the photo-dump trend
But first what do we mean by casual Instagram?
Casual Instagram is a new way to use Instagram popularized by Gen-Z. It involves posting photos out of impulse not worrying about or spending too much care about the posts. The trend has a slight feel of rebellion to it, not falling in to the trap society made for us, as we’re made to feel that we should present ourselves as perfect.
The photo-dumps being closely entwined with the casual gram, allows you to have your Instagram as a picture diary, places to keep photos of your favourite memories, and remembering those memories you had forgotten.
How do I make my Instagram Casual?
Casual Instagram just involves you taking pictures of anything and EVERYTHING. Get snapping! Don’t over think anything you’re posting if you like the post, why shouldn’t you post it? Ironically don’t think about taking the casual Instagram photos it will then become un-natural and the casual Instagram is all about naturalness and rawness.
